Cleveland Browns safety Ronnie Hickman was assaulted early Monday morning at a New York hotel, the team confirmed. Hickman was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and has since been released, according to a team statement.

The 24-year-old player was reportedly approached by four individuals in the lobby of the SIXTY LES hotel shortly after 4:30 a.m. ET, the New York Post reported. The suspects allegedly punched Hickman before leaving the premises.

The Browns said Hickman is "home resting with his family."

Hickman, who joined the Browns in 2023 as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State, is coming off his best season, recording career highs with 103 tackles, two interceptions, and seven pass deflections while starting all 17 games. He is set to become a restricted free agent.

Over three seasons and 41 games (26 starts) with Cleveland, Hickman has accumulated 173 tackles, three interceptions—including one returned for a touchdown—and 11 pass deflections.
