The Milwaukee Brewers have secured veteran manager Pat Murphy with a three-year contract extension, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.

The new deal, which adjusts the final year of Murphy’s previous contract, covers the 2026 through 2028 seasons and includes a club option for 2029, according to The Athletic.

Murphy, 67, led Milwaukee to a 190-134 record over the past two seasons, capturing consecutive National League Central titles. His performance earned him NL Manager of the Year honors at the end of both campaigns.

The Brewers eliminated the Chicago Cubs in five games during the 2025 NL Division Series before being swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL Championship Series. The Dodgers went on to win the World Series.

A fixture in the organization, Murphy joined Milwaukee in 2016 as bench coach under Craig Counsell, replacing him as manager after the 2023 season. During his decade with the club, Milwaukee has qualified for seven postseasons.

Before joining the Brewers, Murphy served as interim manager for the San Diego Padres in 2015, posting a 42-54 record. He also spent years coaching in the Padres’ minor league system and had long tenures as a college head coach at Arizona State University (1995–2009) and Notre Dame (1988–1994).

Murphy’s international experience includes managing the Netherlands national team in tournaments such as the 1987 European Baseball Championship and the 2000 Summer Olympics.
