The Baltimore Orioles have recalled right-hander Brandon Young from Triple-A Norfolk to start Monday’s series opener against the host Chicago White Sox.
To make room on the roster, the Orioles placed southpaw reliever Dietrich Enns on the 15-day injured list with a foot infection, retroactive to Saturday.
The starting spot opened after Zach Eflin was sidelined with right elbow discomfort and placed on the 15-day IL last week. Eflin left his start against the Texas Rangers on March 31 in the fourth inning and is currently seeking a second opinion.
Young, named the Orioles’ 2024 Minor League Pitcher of the Year, made 12 starts for Baltimore in 2025, finishing with a 1-7 record and a 6.24 ERA. His season highlight came on July 8, when he recorded an immaculate inning against the New York Mets, striking out three batters on nine pitches in the fifth inning.
In his lone start for Norfolk this season, Young pitched five innings against Memphis on April 1, allowing one earned run on five hits, with no walks and four strikeouts.
He did not face the White Sox last season.
