The 20-year-old Eala, the first Filipina to crack the WTA Top 100 rankings, rose by five spots from number 45. She garnered 108 points from her latest tournament, the WTA 500 Abu Dhabi Open, which propelled her to the number 40 spot.
Eala reached the quarterfinals in the singles category. She also reached the semifinals with Indonesian Janice Tjen in the doubles event. Eala is now world number 99 in the doubles rankings.
Her next stop is the WTA 1000 Qatar Open where she will face world number 918 Tereza Valentova of the Czech Republic. The tournament is stacked with high-caliber players like Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and defending champion Amanda Anisimova.
Eala was ranked 140th in the world before her breakthrough run in reaching the semifinals of the Miami Open in March 2025. She ended 2025 as the world number 50.
