Vice President Sara Duterte claimed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had allegedly planned targeted actions against her and former President Rodrigo Duterte as early as 2024, including facilitating an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for her father.
In a statement dated September 7, Duterte said she received information in 2024 regarding alleged plots by Marcos against her family.
“Taong 2024 pa lamang ay umabot na sa akin ang impormasyon ng mga planong gawin ni Marcos,” Duterte said.
Duterte noted that because her security as Vice President is linked to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) under the constitutional line of succession, she raised these concerns directly with then-AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr.
Her primary request, she said, was for Brawner to guarantee the safety of her mother and children and ensure they were not threatened or dragged into any operations directed at her.
“Higit sa lahat, hiniling ko na igalang at protektahan ang aking ina at mga anak, at huwag silang idamay o takutin sa kahit anumang gagawin sa akin,” she said.
Duterte accused authorities of monitoring locations where her mother and children were stayng, despite the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and police allegedly knowing her exact whereabouts through surveillance.
She described the alleged intimidation involving minors as a serious matter.
