The U.S. has urged its citizens to leave Iran immediately, recommending that they consider traveling overland to Turkey or Armenia if it is safe to do so. The advisory was issued on Tuesday by the U.S. virtual embassy in Tehran.
"U.S. citizens should leave Iran now. Consider departing Iran by land to Türkiye or Armenia, if safe to do so," the notice stated.
The warning comes amid Iran’s largest anti-government protests in years. The unrest has prompted the administration of President Donald Trump to evaluate its response to the situation in the Middle Eastern country.
