President Donald Trump said on Monday (April 6) he believes God supports the United States in the war against Iran.
When asked if he believes God supports the United States, Trump answered, "I do".
Trump's Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth drew comparisons between Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection with the downing of a U.S. airman over Iran on Friday (April 3) and his subsequent rescue on Sunday (April 5).
In a separate message over the weekend that invoked religion in another way, Trump threatened on social media to strike power plants and bridges in Iran, urged Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz, "you crazy bastards” or face “living in Hell,” and signed off with the phrase “Praise be to Allah.”
