Solicitor General Darlene Marie Berberabe said the Office of the Solicitor General will seek clarification from the Supreme Court following its decision declaring the 2024 and 2025 national budgets, as well as the special provisions of the 2026 national budget unconstitutional.
Berberabe on the utilization of the 2026 national budget: Ang ipapayo namin sa DBM (Department of Budget and Management) at ehekutibo ay pumorma tayo na huwag munang [gastusin].
Berberabe: Sa 2026, maliit ang Unprogrammed Appropriations (UA), lalo na po yung' na-propose sa 2027. Very significantly reduced ang UA.
Berberabe: Meron pong cash management policies, merong science behind the management of our budget. Hindi po ganoon kasimple. Hindi pwedeng lahat programmed appropriations kaya meron silang sinasabing fiscal space.
Berberabe says the utilization of the 2026 national budget would be affected, should the Supreme Court rule against the Solicitor General’s motion for reconsideration.
"Kami po ay hihiling at ipapaliwanag namin kung ano ang magiging effect," she said.
