Senator Alan Cayetano provides aid to flood-hit areas in southern Metro Manila, Cavite

The Emergency Response Team of Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano distributed hot meals and drinks to flood-affected residents and emergency responders in parts of Parañaque, Cavite, and Las Piñas on Sunday, as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continued to bring rains over Luzon and the western Visayas.

In Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City, the team assisted local responders and rescue personnel conducting cleanup and recovery operations after flooding.

Barangay Chairman Noel Japlos said no casualties were reported in the area. He added that responders were clearing fallen trees and cleaning creeks and canals to reduce the risk of further flooding.

The team also delivered assistance to affected residents, barangay personnel, and rescuers in Cavite. Barangay Captain Benedicto Camia likewise reported no casualties, noting that families affected by the flooding remained at the evacuation center, where they continued to receive aid and monitoring.

In Barangay Talon Tres, Las Piñas City, the team reached residents, barangay workers, and responders as floodwaters gradually receded and evacuees began returning to their homes.

Barangay officials thanked Cayetano for his continued support. Talon Tres Chairman Chris Lucena said Cayetano had been extending assistance to the community since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The relief operations came as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that the Southwest Monsoon would continue to bring rains over Luzon and the western portion of the Visayas.

Cayetano’s Emergency Response Team continued its relief activities on Monday, Aug. 10, in Taytay, Tanay, and Rodriguez in Rizal, as well as Bacoor City, General Trias, and Naic in Cavite, assisting communities affected by flooding in these areas.
