President Marcos trust rating drops to new low ahead of SONA, VP Duterte holds steady— SWS

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s trust rating slipped to a record low in the second quarter of the year, while Vice President Sara Duterte maintained a stronger level of public confidence despite her ongoing impeachment trial, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey commissioned by Stratbase Group.

The survey, conducted from June 20 to 29 and released on Sunday, found that 34% of Filipinos said they had "much trust" in Marcos, down by one percentage point from 35% in the March survey.

The latest figure marked the President's lowest trust rating since July 2024, when he reached his highest level of public trust at 64%.

Meanwhile, 45% of respondents said they had "little trust" in Marcos, the highest distrust rating he has received since recording 41% in November 2025. Another 19% were undecided.

The survey also showed Marcos' trust ratings have generally declined since July 2024, when both he and Duterte each posted high trust ratings of around 65% following the collapse of their political alliance. Although the President's ratings rebounded briefly in May and June last year, they fell again in the succeeding months before reaching a new low in the latest poll.

By contrast, Duterte maintained a higher level of public confidence, with 57% of respondents saying they had "much trust" in the Vice President, unchanged from the March survey despite the controversies surrounding her and her impeachment trial.

The poll also found that 27% of Filipinos had "little trust" in Duterte, while 15% remained undecided.

Marcos is scheduled to deliver his fifth, and penultimate, State of the Nation Address on July 27.
