The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has submitted to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. the proposed PHP7.2-trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) for fiscal year 2027, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Monday.
Castro said DBM Secretary Kim de Leon submitted the proposed spending program to Marcos in a meeting in Malacañang
The proposed budget carries the theme “People-Centered Growth for an Inclusive and Resilient Future” and prioritizes education, health, livelihood, national security and community development.
It seeks to maximize the use of public funds by improving government services and expanding opportunities for Filipinos, Castro said.
The NEP is the executive branch’s proposed spending plan and serves as the basis for the General Appropriations Bill that Congress will deliberate on and eventually enact into law.
The DBM is set to formally submit the NEP to Congress on Tuesday, marking the next step in the annual national budget process.
