President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos will conduct a State Visit to Japan from May 26 to 29, 2026, at the invitation of the Japanese government.

According to a news release of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the Marcoses will be received by the Emperor and Empress of Japan at the Imperial Palace.

The visit will include a welcome ceremony, a state call, and a state banquet.

The President will also hold a summit meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae to discuss the future trajectory of the "Philippines-Japan Strengthened Strategic Partnership."

The two leaders are expected to continue their discussions on current international developments, specifically focusing on energy security, food security, and maritime security.

Marcos is also scheduled to meet with Japanese business groups and members of the Filipino community as part of his official engagements during the State Visit.

The last State Visit to Japan by a Philippine President was conducted by the late President Benigno Aquino III in June 2015.

On the other hand, Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko last undertook a State Visit to the Philippines in January 2016.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Japan.
