The Senate of the Philippines unanimously approved on third and final reading Thursday a measure designed to streamline the acquisition and use of land for government socialized housing programs.
Voting 17-0-0, lawmakers passed Senate Bill No. 1992, which introduces amendments to Republic Act No. 7279, also known as the Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992.
The proposed legislation establishes a strengthened legal framework to address persistent land availability challenges and align land acquisition and utilization directly with the needs of qualified housing beneficiaries.
By updating existing statutory guidelines, the measure seeks to remove administrative bottlenecks and enhance the government's overall capacity to execute socialized housing initiatives more efficiently. -Paraluman News
