President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced the launch of a new scholarship program for college students.

This initiative, part of the “Bawat Barangay Makikinabang” program, reflects the administration’s commitment to investing in education and developing future leaders.

Under the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF) program, each barangay will receive ₱200,000, with ₱100,000 specifically allocated for five Presidential Scholars per community.

Each scholar will receive ₱20,000 in educational assistance to support their studies.

"Bawat barangay, makakatulong tayo ng limang scholar…With approximately 42,000 barangays in the Philippines, lampas-lampas na ng 200,000 ang magiging presidential scholar,” Marcos said during the program’s rollout at the General Trias Sports Park in Barangay Santiago, General Trias City, Cavite.

The President underscored the enduring value of learning and encouraged Filipinos to pursue their studies diligently. He described education as a form of wealth that cannot be taken away.

At kahit ano pang mangyari, hindi namakukuha‘yan sa inyo,” the President said.

The scholarship initiative aims to empower barangays to directly support students in their communities, while promoting academic excellence and leadership development at the grassroots level.

By strengthening access to education, the administration hopes younger generations of Filipinos will be better-equipped to contribute to nation-building.
