PH gov't ready to increase funds of LGUs with well-implemented programs

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the Philippine government is prepared to increase funding for Local Government Units (LGUs), provided that current programs are implemented effectively and deliver measurable results.

During a visit to Batangas City, the President emphasized to local officials that future funding allocations will depend on the successful execution of initiatives supported by national government funds.

“Pag sa ating mga government officials, sa ating mga local government, pagbutihan ninyo itong ginagawa nating mga programang ito,” Marcos said.

“Pag maganda ang maging resulta nito, asahan ninyo sa susunod na budget, lalakihan pa namin ang pondo para dito,” he added.

The President recently his remarks while attending several key events in Batangas City. During his visit, he witnessed the distribution of rice through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) and observed the orientation for Presidential Scholars under the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF). Additionally, he led the turnover of financial assistance from the SCPF to the presidents of the Association of Barangay Captains.

Marcos assured local leaders that the initiative is not a one-time effort, but emphasized that its success depends on proper implementation at the local level.

“The success or failure of these programs depends upon our working together well,” he said.

“At kung maayos ang maging trabaho natin, makikita ng tao ‘yan… Dagdagan natin ng pondo para mas malawak pa, mas marami pa tayong matutulungan,” he added.

Lastly, during the visit, the President highlighted a scholarship component of the program. It was noted that a portion of the financial assistance provided to barangays will be used to support students.
