Japan and Poland Prime Ministers meet as they seek to upgrade diplomatic ties

Sanae Takaichi and Donald Tusk have agreed to elevate Japan–Poland relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The two countries pledged closer cooperation across energy, technology, security, and support for Ukraine amid global instability.

Japan and Poland agreed to upgrade diplomatic ties to a comprehensive and strategic partnership, said Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi following a meeting with her Polish counterpart Donald Dusk on Wednesday (April 15).


Speaking at a joint statement held by two leaders, Takaichi reaffirmed Japan’s strong support for Ukraine, in cooperation with Polish companies in the fields of energy, logistics and housing sector.


Tusk said a stable and reliable partnership with Japan is “absolutely invaluable”, and emphasized that the two countries should contribute further to both the regional and global stability.


He said that the two countries will expand cooperation across a wide range of fields, from space to beef, from nuclear energy to high-speed rail, from cybersecurity to artificial intelligence.
