Indonesia joins Saudi Arabia, Qatar in Trump's 'Board of Peace'

Indonesia has joined Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Qatar in accepting invitations to join U.S. President Donald Trump's "Board of Peace", the Indonesian foreign ministry said in a statement on social media on Thursday (January 22).

The statement added that each country will sign accession documents in accordance with its legal procedures.

Trump has invited dozens of world leaders to join his initiative aimed at resolving global conflicts, although diplomats say the move could harm the work of the United Nations.

Trump first proposed the Board of Peace last September when he announced his plan to end the Gaza war. He later made clear the board's remit would be expanded beyond Gaza to tackle other conflicts worldwide.
