‘I’m speaking for the UK more than Prince Harry’, says Trump after Harry’s plea on Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday (April 23) said Britain's Prince Harry was 'not speaking for the UK' after a reporter asked about Harry's plea to the U.S. to end the Ukraine war.

"How's he doing? How's his wife? Please give her my regards," Trump said in the Oval Office. "I think I know one thing, Prince Harry is not speaking for the UK, that's for sure. I think I'm speaking for the UK more than Prince Harry, but I appreciate his advice very much, it's great advice."

Britain's Prince Harry made an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Thursday (April 23) and called on Russia's President Vladimir Putin to end the war, a week after a massive Russian aerial attack on the country, and on U.S. President Donald Trump to show leadership to help resolve the conflict.

Harry's remarks come as Britain's King Charles heads to the United States next week for the most high-profile trip of his reign so far, on a mission to shore up the future of the two allies' "special relationship" which the Iran war has plunged to its lowest point in 70 years.

The state visit marks the 250th anniversary of the U.S. declaration of independence from British rule, when the then 13 American colonies decided to split from King George III, Charles's five-times-great-grandfather.
