Senator Go credits unity, volunteerism for PDP wins despite limited funds

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go expressed appreciation to party members, emphasizing how the group has managed to win elections despite limited financial resources. He also voiced hope that the same momentum could help produce another top-ranking senator in 2028.

During the PDP National Council meeting on April 11 at the party’s headquarters in Sta. Mesa, Manila, Go, the national auditor of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP), highlighted that the party’s strength has long been rooted in unity and volunteer-driven efforts.

“Unang-una, wala po akong io-audit dahil wala namang pera yung PDP. Sa totoo lamang po, nanalo po tayo sa pagtutulungan, volunteerism,” Go said, drawing light laughter from the audience as he opened his remarks with a candid observation about the party’s finances.

He pointed out that despite lacking financial backing, the party has consistently delivered strong electoral results. “Wala talaga tayong pera pero nanalo tayo. Yun ang importante,” he added.

Go recalled that when he assumed the role of national auditor in 2015, financial concerns were rarely an issue, as campaigns were largely supported by local hosts and allies.

“Hindi po naging problema yung trabaho ng isang auditor kasi noong 2016, noong nanalo po si President Duterte, lahat po may host talaga,” he explained.

He said similar support systems continued in later elections, with allies stepping in to shoulder campaign-related expenses, enabling the party to focus more on mobilization efforts rather than funding.

Go also credited party leaders and members for keeping the PDP competitive through challenging elections, noting that even during difficult midterm races, the party succeeded in producing top-ranking candidates.

“Nagtulungan po kami lalung-lalo na po yung midterm election na hirap po tayo pero dapat maging proud po tayo kahit walang pera yung PDP nakapag-produce po tayo ng dalawang No. 1,” he said.

Looking ahead, he expressed optimism that the party can further expand its presence in the Senate in the coming years.

“Nanalo po tayo hopefully sana po sa darating na 2028 sana po madagdagan pa ang atin senador at makaproduce pa ng number one sa senado,” he said, rallying party members.
