Davao draws foreign diplomatic attention with visits from US, Italian envoys

United States Ambassador Lee Lipton paid a courtesy call on Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte on Thursday, marking his first official visit to the city since assuming his diplomatic post.

The meeting brought together local officials and representatives from the US Embassy to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen ties between Davao City and the United States. Also present during the visit were Senator Robin Padilla, members of the US diplomatic mission, and officials from the Davao City government.

The engagement underscores ongoing interaction between foreign diplomats and local leadership as Davao City seeks to expand international partnerships and economic cooperation.

Earlier in the week, Mayor Duterte hosted Italian Ambassador Davide Giglio, who visited Davao City on October 20. Ambassador Giglio's visit focused on strengthening Philippine-Italy relations and exploring potential cooperation in agriculture and investment, signaling growing foreign interest in the city’s economic growth and development.
