China defends wind power strategy after Trump's criticism at Davos

China defended its wind power development and reinforced its commitment to promote global green and low carbon transition, after U.S. President Donald Trump's criticism at the World Economic Forum annual meeting.

"China's efforts to tackle climate change and promote the development and application of renewable energy in the world are obvious to all," Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson at the Chinese foreign ministry, said at a regular press conference.

Trump said in his speech to global elites in Davos, Switzerland, that China makes almost all of the windmills but he had not "been able to find any wind farms in China," characterising China's buyers as "stupid".
