Canada's Prime Minister says ties with China 'more predictable' than with US

Canada's relationship with China is one that is "more predictable", Prime Minister Mark Carney said to reporters in Beijing on Friday when asked to compare the North American country's ties with neighbour United States.

Carney attributed that to having addressed areas for cooperation as well as differences between both countries in his meetings with Chinese leaders.

"And that sort of candid and consistent dialogue, frank dialogue that leads to a more predictable, and effective relationship," he said.

He described Canada's ties with U.S. as "much more multifaceted, much deeper, much broader than it is with China".
