'Big day for world peace', Trump says after ceasefire agreement

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday (April 8) described a two-week ceasefire agreement with Iran as a “big day for world peace” that could usher in a new “golden age of the Middle East”.
In a social media post on Truth Social, he said the United States “will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz” and that Iran can “start the reconstruction process”.
On Tuesday (April 7), Trump told AFP that the U.S. had won a “total and complete victory” after agreeing to the ceasefire.
Trump, who has offered shifting goals and timelines for the war, reiterated that he felt Washington's objectives had been achieved.
