8,000 Western Visayas teachers promoted under PH’s Expanded Career Progression System

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recently led the mass oath-taking of over 8,000 newly promoted teachers and school heads from Western Visayas.

The President was joined by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos for the event that marks the largest single gathering to date under the government’s Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System.

The event was held at Villareal Stadium in Roxas City, Capiz, following earlier oath-taking ceremonies in Cebu, Davao, and Eastern Visayas attended by thousands of educators.

Marcos assured teachers of continued government support, with a specific focus on improving career advancement, welfare, and working conditions.

“Asahan ninyo, mga Ma’am, mga Sir, na ang inyong pamahalaan ay hindi titigil sa pagkilos upang matiyak na kayo ay naaalagaan, nabibigyan ng pagkakataong umunlad, at kinikilala sa inyong serbisyo,” Marcos said.

He said the ECP System was designed to address long-standing concerns over slow promotion due to limited permanent positions.

The system provides educators with clearer pathways toward either continued classroom teaching or school leadership roles.

“Just as you have guided your students to grow, this system supports you and your growth as professionals,” the President said.

From August 2025 to the present, 79,230 teachers and school heads nationwide have benefited from promotions under this initiative. This total includes more than 8,500 individuals in Western Visayas.

Marcos reiterated that the administration aims to ensure no teacher retires at the entry-level Teacher I position.

He noted that additional promotions are currently being processed to support this goal.

He said some of the key reforms for educators include:

• Reduced Administrative Workload: Initiatives to streamline non-teaching tasks.

• Job Creation: The establishment of over 61,000 new teaching positions between 2022 and 2025.

• Teaching Allowance: A ₱10,000 allowance for the 2025–2026 school year.

• Housing Support: Expanded programs with priority access specifically for teachers.

The President also expressed gratitude to educators for their service, highlighting their role as vital contributors to nation-building.

“You have carried this responsibility with dedication, with patience, and with heart, going way beyond what is just expected of you. For that, from the bottom of my heart, from the bottom of the heart of every Filipino, and a grateful nation, thank you,” Marcos said.

The President recently expressed sincere gratitude to educators for their dedicated service, highlighting them as vital contributors to nation-building.
