About Louis Porwollik
Louis Porwollik is a Hamburg-based photographer and visual storyteller whose work grows from the meeting point of science, memory, and instinct. Trained in geoscience, hydrology, and geochemistry, his eye is shaped by the quiet discipline of observation: reading landscapes, structures, traces, and atmospheres as if they were stories written into the physical world. His photography is not created to please, explain, or perform, but to follow an inner necessity — art made “for me, from me,” where, as Rick Rubin says, “the audience comes last.” This personal approach gives his images a raw and intimate quality, balancing analytical precision with emotional depth. Recognized at the SPC Photo Awards 2025 in Hamburg and published in the LSE International Development Review, his visual practice explores the tension between the seen and the felt, transforming fragments of reality into poetic narratives.
