MANILA – Government offices in the National Capital Region (NCR) and 13 provinces will implement appropriate alternative work arrangements on Tuesday amid continued heavy rainfall associated with the southwest monsoon (habagat).
The directive, which Malacañang issued through Memorandum Circular No. 128, covers Metro Manila and the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna and Occidental Mindoro.
The measure was issued upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and in view of the heavy rainfall warnings issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Unless otherwise directed by their respective local chief executives, schools in the affected areas shall implement alternative learning modes for classes at all levels in public and private schools.
Government agencies involved in basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services are directed to continue operations and provide necessary services.
Local chief executives may also order the localized cancellation or suspension of classes and work in government offices in other areas, pursuant to existing laws, rules and regulations.
Meanwhile, the suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in private companies and offices remains at the discretion of management. (PNA)
