The World Health Organization is investigating 906 suspected cases of Ebola and 223 deaths in the Democratic Republic of Congo amid an ongoing outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain. There are currently no approved vaccines or specific therapies available for this particular strain of the virus.

GENEVA — The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Friday that it is investigating 906 suspected cases of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), including 223 suspected deaths.


An outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola continues to spread in the DRC, with additional cases now reported in neighboring Uganda. According to the WHO, there are currently no approved vaccines or therapies specifically designed to treat the Bundibugyo virus strain.
