As one of OPM's leading figures for almost four decades, Ogie Alcasid has written songs that have, in one way or another, influenced the lives of many Filipinos.
Now, the celebrated singer-songwriter is bringing that musical legacy to the stage with "DaddyOkie: A Father's Day Concert," on June 19 and 20 at the Proscenium Theater in Makati.
The OPM King is inviting music lovers, fathers, and entire families to unwind and sing along with him during this special Father's Day celebration. Ogie will perform timeless favorites, including popular radio hits and classic songs that many fathers know and likely even sung themselves.
The concert also highlights his enduring connection with fans who have followed his career for decades. According to Alcasid’s management ATeam, attendees will also have a special opportunity to share the stage with him. Three fathers will be selected per show for a chance to duet with Ogie.
Alcasid is regarded as one of the most prolific singer-songwriters in Philippine music history, known for his signature OPM ballads. Among his most popular songs are “Kailangan Kita,” "Ikaw Sana," "Nandito Ako," and the karaoke favorite "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang."
Beyond music, Ogie has also built a solid reputation as an actor in television and film. He recently reminded fans of his acting versatility through a clip from “Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK),” which he shared on social media.
The emotional scene depicted the challenges and sacrifices faced by many fathers, with Ogie portraying a clown and puppeteer who was also a devoted husband and father striving to provide for his family.
Ogie Alcasid first entered showbiz in the late-80s as a singer before establishing himself as an actor and comedian. In high school, he was a member of the all-male La Salle Greenhills choir The Kundirana with future OPM stalwart Dingdong Avanzado as fellow choir member.
His breakthrough came in 1989 when his eponymous debut album was released. The LP featured hit songs such as "Nandito Ako," "Sa Kanya" and "Peksman."
Shortly after, he transitioned into film with a starring role in Regal Entertainment's "Feel na Feel" (1990). He also became a pioneer cast member of the long-running gag show “Bubble Gang,” further cementing his status as a comedian-actor.
Ogie is married to "Asia's Songbird" Regine Velasquez, with whom he shares a son. He also has two daughters, Sarah and Leila, from his previous marriage to former Australian beauty queen and actress Michelle van Eimeren.
Not surprisingly, Leila inherited her father's passion and talent for singing. She is currently a contract artist under Star Music and is managed by Ogie himself.
Ogie is set to perform internationally with his “Nandito Ako” concert in Sydney, Australia on July 3, 2026.
