Liza Soberano cast in Amazon Audible's ‘The Moons of LA’

Liza Soberano is expanding her Hollywood portfolio with a new role in “The Moons of LA,” a comedy audio series from Audible that brings together an ensemble of prominent Asian American actors, including Ken Jeong, Daniel Dae Kim, and Randall Park.

According to Variety, the new series features “a meta twist involving a kid who’s obsessed with true-crime podcasts and uses her investigative skills to save her parents’ marriage.”

“The Moons of LA” is a coming-of-age comedy centered on family, identity, and personal success. It follows Chloe Moon, a middle school student who dreams of becoming an investigative journalist. Concerned about the state of her parents’ relationship, Chloe begins interviewing relatives and family friends, using what she learns to piece together what went wrong and find a way to bring her family back together.

Chloe is played by Alyssa Abiera, while Soberano’s specific role in the series has not yet been revealed.

The Korean American-led ensemble also includes Jae Suh Park, Jimmy O. Yang, John Cho, Sherry Cola, Vivian Bang, and Sydney Park.

Behind the series is a creative team led by writer Paul Bae (“The Black Tapes”) and director James Kim (“Moonface”). Kim also serves as an executive producer alongside Jeong, John Cheng, Will Malnati, and Ashley Taylor.

The project is co-produced by Audible, 3AD, and At Will Media.

“We've been lucky enough to bring together a stellar cast to tell a story that is both unique to the Korean American identity and universal in its exploration of the definition of personal success,” Kim told Variety. “I'm grateful to 3AD, our entire creative team, and Audible for bringing it to life.”

"The Moons of LA" will premiere exclusively on Audible, the Amazon-owned audio entertainment platform, on October 8.

The project adds another credit to Soberano’s growing Hollywood career, following her role in “Lisa Frankenstein” and DreamWorks’ Filipino-inspired animated feature “Forgotten Island” which she is currently promoting.
