Intramuros hosts free screening of ‘Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara’

The Filipino psychological horror classic “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara,” directed by award-winning filmmaker Chito S. Roño, will be screened for free at the Centro de Turismo in Intramuros, Manila, on October 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

“Film Fridays returns to Intramuros for a special Halloween screening at the Centro de Turismo!” the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) announced in a Facebook post.

“Catch the horror classic "Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara" by Chito S. Roño and follow a woman's unsettling journey as she confronts the supernatural in this edition of Film Fridays.”

The screening will feature the 1995 remake of “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara,” which follows a woman haunted by the vengeful ghost of her younger sister, who died by suicide.

The film stars Dawn Zulueta, Lorna Tolentino, Tonton Gutierrez, Antoinette Taus, among others. It is a remake of the 1974 original by the late filmmaker and screenwriter Celso Ad. Castillo, who co-wrote the 1995 version with National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee.

Following the remake’s commercial and critical success, the story was adapted into a television series in 2008, starring Kris Aquino, Jodi Sta. Maria, and Albert Martinez.

Admission is free but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Moviegoers are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat.

The event is organized by the FDCP and the Intramuros Administration (IA) as part of "Film Fridays," a monthly screening program that showcases Filipino film classics and fan-favorite titles.
