Fans are weighing in on who deserves the title of “Best Actress of Their Generation,” as Nadine Lustre, Kathryn Bernardo, and Liza Soberano become the center of a lively debate on X.
The discussion began when a hypothetical question posted on X asked fans which of the three actresses—Nadine, Kathryn, or Liza—deserves to be called the ‘Best Actress of their Generation.’
“LET'S TALK ACTING!! Sino sa tingin n'yo ang mas angat pagdating sa acting?” the post read. “If you had to choose a Big 3 of female actresses, sino ang deserving ng title na ‘Best Actress of their Generation’???”
The post drew mixed reactions, with fans making a case for their favorites.
Kathryn's supporters highlighted her dramatic performances and commercial success as reasons she deserves the title.
“Magaling naman sila talaga, pero para sakin Kathryn pa din,” one netizen commented.
Another fan wrote, “Of course doon ako sa back to back Box Office Queen! Kasi kung hindi ka magaling umarte di ka naman paapanoodin sa sinehan. Kathryn Bernardo yan.”
Kathryn, 30, has taken on a range of roles in films such as “The Hows of Us,” “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” and “A Very Good Girl.” These projects have showcased different sides of her acting, from emotionally driven romantic drama to a darker, more complex character.
Meanwhile, Nadine's supporters pointed to her versatility and award-winning performances. “Nadine for me, all rounder din,” one netizen said.
Another cited her acting accolades, commenting, “Nadine Lustre may MMFF, Gawad Urian and FAMAS best actress award. Dun pa lang tapos na ang usapan.”
Nadine, 32, has demonstrated her range through projects such as “Never Not Love You,” “Greed,” and “Deleter.” Her performances have been recognized by the country's major awarding-giving bodies.
Liza, who is now building her career in Hollywood, also received support from Filipino fans who praised her subtle expressions and ability to portray different characters.
“Liza for me, di oa yung mga subtle expressions nya. It changes sa different character,” one netizen explained.
Another supporter highlighted her voice acting skills, saying, “Liza. Mahirap ang voice acting. Audition performance nya ginamit sa final film.”
Liza's screen projects include the romantic drama “Alone/Together,” the Filipino animated series “Trese,” in which she voiced Alexandra Trese, and the Hollywood film “Lisa Frankenstein.” The 28-year-old also voices the lead character in the animated film “Forgotten Island.”
Aside from sharing their opinions, some netizens posted photos of awards, recognitions, and movie appearances to support their choices.
Others took a more balanced view, noting that the three actresses have distinct acting styles and bring different strengths to their roles.
“Iba iba kasi atake nila when it comes to acting. Different style pero lahat sila magagaling,” one netizen remarked.
The debate began over the weekend and continues to draw reactions from X users. As fans cite performances, awards, and personal preferences to defend their choices, the discussion highlights how differently audiences assess acting talent.
