The Filipino series “Call My Manager" is officially joining HBO Max’s upcoming Asian originals.

As reported by Variety, HBO Max will roll out five Asian originals between late July and late August, including two titles from the Philippines.

The first is the eight-episode series "Call My Manager", produced by Reality MM Studios and directed by Erik Matti (BuyBust), who also serves as executive producer with Ronald “Dondon” Monteverde (ReKonek). The series is a Philippine adaptation of the French dramedy “Call My Agent!”

Matti shared on social media that the series was a passion project for him and Monteverde. “This project is as much a tribute to showbusiness as it is an irreverent and candid look at what we hate and love about our industry. Except for the main characters in the show that are fictional, every celebrity guest comes in as themselves. Buti game sila.”

The series stars Judy Ann Santos, Edu Manzano, and RK Bagatsing in lead roles, alongside Raf Pineda, Maricel Soriano, Snooky Serna, and Gina Alajar.

The project first premiered at the QCinema International Film Festival in November last year. At the time, the team was still unsure when it would make its way to streaming platforms, but they were grateful to have screened the first two episodes during the festival.

Matti described the series as an inside look at the entertainment industry, where audiences can see both its humor and chaos, while industry insiders may recognize reflections of themselves in the characters. He added that for those who enjoy showbiz gossip and intrigue, the series offers a glimpse into why people love the “crazy world” of entertainment.

In his latest post, Matti celebrated the official release announcement, writing, “Just when we thought this would never see the light of day.” The series will premiere on HBO Max on August 13.

Also part of HBO Max’s Filipino lineup is “Come Dine With Me: Celebrity Philippines,” a local adaptation of the hit British reality series. While details remain limited, the show is expected to feature 20 local celebrities and public figures and will premiere on July 23.

Other Asian originals arriving on HBO Max include Taiwan’s “Fired Up!” on July 31, “The Producer” on August 28, and Indonesia’s The Invisible Guest on August 7.
