25 years after ‘Booba,’ Rufa Mae Quinto, Joyce Bernal reunite with ‘Boboh’

Rufa Mae Quinto is officially reuniting with acclaimed director Bb. Joyce Bernal for the upcoming comedy film “Boboh: Ang Babaeng Na-Fact Ng Sistema,” marking their much-awaited reunion after more than two decades.
Rufa Mae shared the news in her latest Instagram post, revealing that the film is currently shooting in Amsterdam.
“BOBOH production, yes! In Amsterdam shooting!”
The 48-year-old also expressed her excitement about working with Bernal again after their previous collaborations.Looking back on their long history, Rufa Mae noted that it has been 25 years since they first worked on movies together.
“Dahil sa sobrang support nyo sa mga movies namin, here we are again!”
Among their past collaborations is the classic comedy “Booba” (2001), which became Rufa Mae’s massive breakout hit. They later teamed up for the cult-favorite superhero comedy “Super-B” (2002) and the satirical comedy-musical “Masikip sa Dibdib: The Boobita Rose Story” (2004).
The reunion also marks Bernal’s return following a long hiatus. Her directorial credits include “Miss Granny,” starring Sarah Geronimo, as well as “Hey Babe!,” “Till There Was You,” “Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme,” and “Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad.”
Rufa Mae’s announcement received support from fellow celebrities, including Iza Calzado, who playfully echoed Rufa Mae’s signature “Go, go, go!” line in her comment: “I’m so happy for you @rufamaequinto leveling!! ! Go, go, go!!”
Empoy also congratulated the comedian-actress, “Congrats peach @rufamaequinto see you soonest God Bless.”
Rufa Mae replied, “@empoy yes sayo din congratulations sa Finland! Salamat! See yah next week!”
Rufa Mae also teased her upcoming projects, saying, “Wow 3 agad movies ko, SLAYIN SOON…”
“Boboh” is presented by Spring Films and co-produced by Piolo Pascual and Rufa Mae herself, marking the actress’ first venture as a co-producer. Spring Films is co-owned and managed by Pascual and Bernal.
Aside from “Boboh,” Rufa Mae has two more films in the works: another comedy with Empoy and an upcoming project alongside Aiai delas Alas and Wendell Ramos.
