Several Chinese airlines to raise domestic fuel surcharges from April 5

Several Chinese airlines, including top carrier Air China 601111.SS, said on Wednesday that they would raise fuel surcharges for domestic flights from April 5, as the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran drives up jet fuel prices.

• Air China, China Southern Airlines 600029.SS and China Southern's subsidiary Xiamen Airlines will raise fuel surcharges for domestic flights to 60 yuan for flights of 800 km (497 miles) and below and 120 yuan for those over 800 km, the companies said on their websites.

• The move will raise the charges six-fold, according to company statements on Wednesday and in December.

• Budget carriers Spring Airlines601021.SS and China United Airlines, a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines 600115.SS, have also announced fuel surcharge hikes for domestic flights from April 5.

• The conflict in the Middle East has upended the global aviation industry, prompting airlines to raise fares and revise financial outlooks.

• China's three largest state-owned airlines said they were cautious about the outlook for this year, after all returned to losses in the fourth quarter of 2025.
