KYIV - Japan's Terra Drone 278A.T on Tuesday announced an investment in Ukrainian interceptor-drone producer Amazing Drones, saying it wanted to promote innovation in the global defense sector.
- Terra Drone, which develops drones for the agriculture and energy industry as well as for defence, did not disclose the size of its investment in Amazing Drones, with CEO Toru Tokushige only telling reporters in Kyiv that his firm aims to spend $10 million in total on Ukrainian defence innovation.
* "The exchange of UAVs seen in recent situations such as in the Middle East indicates that, in modern defence, securing defence drones ... is a top priority for the security of the international community," Tokushige said.
* Tokushige added that Terra Drone aims to contribute to Amazing Drones' global expansion and mass production. Ukraine has long sought international investment for its underfinanced defence sector.
* The Amazing Drones interceptor is designed for rapid deployment on the battlefield, has a range of up to 35 kilometres and can fly at a speed of up to 300 kilometres per hour, said CEO Maksym Klymenko.
