Four leading Australian institutional investors are set to explore new investment opportunities in energy, infrastructure, and other strategic sectors in the Philippines, the Australian Embassy in Manila said on Tuesday.

The embassy said senior representatives from AustralianSuper, IFM Investors, Macquarie Asset Management, PentagreenCapital and Plenary Group—with a combined AUD1.4 trillion in assets under management—will conduct a business mission to Manila from Sept. 8 to 9.

Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown said the visit forms part of Canberra’s broader investment strategy in Southeast Asia, which seeks to facilitate a “significant increase” in Australian investment into the country.

“The Philippines has ambitious plans for infrastructure, energy and economic development. We want to see more Australian investors bringing capital and expertise to help turn those ambitions into reality,” he said.

"The visit takes place during the 80th anniversary year of Australia-Philippines diplomatic relations, and we are looking towards an even more substantial economic relationship."

The embassy said the delegation will meet Philippine business leaders, senior government officials, and major project sponsors, and explore opportunities arising from the Philippines’ ambitious infrastructure expansion and energy transition.

The investors, including those supported through the Australian Government’s AUD2 billion Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility, bring extensive global experience in financing, developing and managing major infrastructure, energy and strategic assets, as well as significant pools of long-term capital.
