Subpoenaed bank records will offer a far more comprehensive look into Vice President Sara Duterte’s finances than the Anti-Money Laundering Council's (AMLC) transaction summaries, according to the House prosecution panel.

House prosecutor Rep. Leila de Lima said obtaining the raw bank documents allows prosecutors to examine the full financial trail of Duterte and her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio, rather than relying strictly on compiled reports.

The AMLC previously flagged around ₱6.7 billion in alleged covered and suspicious transactions spanning Duterte's career from Davao City vice mayor to the vice presidency.

“What we want is to show [it] all,” De Lima said in an interview, noting that the unredacted files could either confirm the AMLC's initial figures, account for repeated transfers, or reveal even more financial activity. “So it could be more.”

De Lima explained that the underlying records will enable both parties to inspect individual deposits, withdrawals, and transfers to distinguish between legitimate income and transactions requiring further explanation. The documents will also clarify assets held jointly or separately by the couple.

While the financial institutions originally submitted these transaction alerts to the AMLC, bank representatives will still need to appear before the Senate impeachment court to formally authenticate the original records, De Lima added.
