Russian attacks killed at least four people and injured dozens more in southeastern and northeastern Ukraine on Sunday, according to regional officials.
In the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, Russian strikes killed two people and injured 16 others, Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov said. Images shared by the governor on Telegram showed a building engulfed in flames and parts of a residential neighborhood reduced to rubble.
In Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region, a missile strike on the town of Zmiiv killed one person and injured eight others, including two children, Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov said.
Police in the Kharkiv region also reported that an officer was killed while helping organize the evacuation of residents from another community farther north.
Meanwhile, in the border region of Sumy, regional authorities said an elderly woman was killed in an area near the Russian border during the day's attacks.
Reuters could not independently verify the reports from either side. Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly denied deliberately targeting civilians during the conflict, which has continued for more than four years. -Reporting by Ron Popeski and Bogdan Kochubey; Editing by Chris Reese and Sanjeev Miglani/Reuters
