Germany: Iran should stop attacking UAE and start opening Strait of Hormuz

BERLIN - Germany is condemning attacks by Iran on the United Arab Emirates and other nations, Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Monday, adding that Tehran must stop threatening its neighbours and open the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions.

"Attacks on nuclear facilities pose a threat to the safety of people throughout the region. There must be no further escalation of violence," Merz said in a post on X.

He also said that Iran must enter into serious negotiations with the United States.

A drone strike caused a fire at a nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates, officials there said on Sunday.
