The number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo has risen to 1,406, with 438 reported deaths, according to government data released on Wednesday.


Health authorities said the cases have been recorded across the eastern provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu, which have been among the areas most affected by recurring outbreaks of the virus.


Officials continue to monitor the situation as response efforts focus on containing further transmission and providing medical support in the affected regions.
