NBA: Knicks halt Spurs' 11-game winning streak
The New York Knicks snapped the San Antonio Spurs’ 11-game winning streak behind 25 points from Mikal Bridges, while Josh Giddey powered the Chicago Bulls with a triple-double to end their 11-game skid. Knicks 114, Spurs 89
Mikal Bridges scored 25 points and Jalen Brunson added 24 to lead the New York Knicks to a 114-89 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, ending San Antonio’s 11-game winning streak. Bridges made 10 of 17 field goals, including 5 of 9 from three-point range, and contributed five rebounds and five steals. Karl-Anthony Towns added 12 points and 14 rebounds. Brunson dished seven assists and hit four three-pointers, helping the Knicks secure their 14th win in 18 games and avenge a 134-132 loss to the Spurs on New Year’s Eve.
San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama scored 25 points with 13 rebounds. Devin Vassell added 18 points, and Stephon Castle had 13. The Spurs were held to a season-low point total.
Cavaliers 106, Nets 102
James Harden returned from a two-game absence due to a fractured right thumb to score 22 points with nine rebounds and eight assists, helping Cleveland hold off Brooklyn. Former Net Jarrett Allen contributed 20 points, and Evan Mobley added 17. Sam Merrill and Dennis Schroder provided 15 and 12 points, respectively, as the Cavaliers shot 48.6% from the field and made 25 free throws.
Michael Porter Jr. led Brooklyn with 26 points. Rookie Danny Wolf scored a career-high 23 points with nine rebounds, while Nolan Traore added 17.
Celtics 114, 76ers 98
Neemias Queta recorded a career-high 27 points and 17 rebounds, and Jaylen Brown added 27 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists to guide Boston past Philadelphia. Derrick White had 21 points, six rebounds, and eight assists, while Nikola Vucevic contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds. The Celtics dominated the boards 59-37 and made 18 of 21 free throws.
Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 33 points, including four three-pointers. VJ Edgecombe added 23 points as Philadelphia forced 15 turnovers.
Lakers 128, Kings 104
Luka Doncic scored 28 points with nine assists, and LeBron James added 24 points as the Lakers completed a back-to-back victory over Sacramento. Austin Reaves and Deandre Ayton each had 12 points.
For the Kings, Nique Clifford scored 26 points, and Maxime Raynaud added 16 points with 13 rebounds. Russell Westbrook had 14 points as Sacramento finished 2-3 on their recent five-game road trip.
Bulls 120, Bucks 97
Josh Giddey posted a triple-double with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Collin Sexton scored a game-high 22 points as Chicago ended an 11-game losing streak against Milwaukee. Seven Bulls players finished in double figures, including Buzelis with 20 points and Leonard Miller with a career-best 15.
Bobby Portis led Milwaukee with 18 points, followed by Cam Thomas (15), AJ Green (13), and Ryan Rollins (11).
Timberwolves 117, Nuggets 108
Anthony Edwards scored 21 points, and Jaden McDaniels added 20 as Minnesota moved ahead of Denver in the Western Conference. Bones Hyland had 18 points off the bench, and Rudy Gobert grabbed 15 rebounds.
Nikola Jokic nearly recorded a triple-double with 35 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists for the Nuggets. Jamal Murray scored 25 points, while Tim Hardaway Jr. added 17 and Christian Braun contributed 15.
Grizzlies 125, Pacers 106
Taylor Hendricks made a career-high five three-pointers and scored 19 points, leading Memphis past Indiana. Jaylen Wells added 18 points, and Olivier-Maxence Prosper contributed 17. Scotty Pippen Jr. and Rayan Rupert each scored 16, while Walter Clayton Jr. set a Grizzlies rookie record with 14 assists.
Jarace Walker led the Pacers with 21 points, followed by Micah Potter with 18 and Jay Huff with 14.
Hawks 135, Trailblazers 101
Onyeka Okongwu scored 25 points, including 20 in the first half, and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Atlanta extend its winning streak to four games. Jonathan Kuminga had 20 points and seven rebounds, and CJ McCollum added 19.
Portland’s Jrue Holiday scored 23 points, while Donovan Clingan recorded a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double.
Pistons 106, Magic 92
Cade Cunningham tallied 29 points with 11 assists, adding six rebounds, as Detroit overcame early struggles to beat Orlando. Tobias Harris contributed 23 points, Jalen Duren had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Ausur Thompson added nine points with 11 boards.
Orlando’s Paolo Banchero scored 24 points with 11 assists, Tristan da Silva added 19, and Desmond Bane chipped in 17 points with seven assists.
Thunder 100, Mavericks 87
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 30 points, marking his 123rd consecutive 20-point game, to lead Oklahoma City past Dallas. Chet Holmgren contributed 19 points and nine rebounds, while Isaiah Joe added 14 off the bench.
Caleb Martin led the Mavericks with 18 points, while Brandon Williams and Max Christie scored 14 each.
Clippers 137, Pelicans 117
Kawhi Leonard scored 23 points, and four teammates finished in double figures as Los Angeles snapped a three-game losing streak. Jordan Miller had 19 points, Derrick Jones Jr. 17, Brook Lopez 16, and John Collins returned with 15 points.
Rookie Jeremiah Fears scored a season-high 28 points off the bench for New Orleans, while Derik Queen added 19, Dejounte Murray 17, Trey Murphy III 16, and Saddiq Bey 14.
