Senator Rodante Marcoleta remains confined and is undergoing medical examinations at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital.
According to a report of the Philippine News Agency (PNA), PNPGH chief of Internal Medicine, Lt. Col. Benaly Bayani, confirmed that Marcoleta is being treated for degenerative disc disease, mild pneumonia, and fluctuating blood pressure, which reached 160/90 on Wednesday (July 8, 2026).
Due to these conditions, he has been declared "unfit to travel" at this time, the PNA report said.
While results for his chest and cervical spine X-rays are available, the medical team is still awaiting 2D echo results and further blood chemistry tests.
In terms of legal proceedings, PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. confirmed that the warrant of arrest was returned to the Sandiganbayan on Monday.
Although a commitment order has been issued, the senator has not been physically brought before the court due to his unstable condition.
Once cleared by his doctors, Senator Marcoleta is expected to be detained at the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas for his pending plunder case.
