GOLF: Scheffler wins fourth straight PGA Tour Player of the Year award
Scottie Scheffler has been named PGA Tour Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive season, marking a historic achievement alongside Tiger Woods. Scheffler, who captured two majors in 2025, continues to chase the career Grand Slam.

Scottie Scheffler has been named the PGA Tour Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive season, the PGA Tour announced on Monday. With two major championships among his six victories in 2025, Scheffler's remarkable season earned him the Jack Nicklaus Award, making him only the second player in history, alongside Tiger Woods (1999-2003), to win the prestigious honor four times in a row.
Scheffler, the world number one, finished the year with an impressive 17 top-10 finishes—leading the PGA Tour—and maintained an unblemished record by not missing a single cut. His triumphs included his victories at the PGA Championship and the British Open, bringing his total major championships to four. A U.S. Open title next year would make him just the seventh player in history to complete the career Grand Slam.
“Scottie’s consistent level of success has been nothing short of spectacular as he continues to chase history on the PGA Tour, and we’re excited to see what he will deliver in 2026,” said PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp in a press release.
In addition to Scheffler’s achievement, South African Aldrich Potgieter was honored with the Arnold Palmer Award as the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. Potgieter, the only rookie to qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs, was one of five newcomers to secure a victory on the PGA Tour this season. His award makes him the third South African recipient of the honor, following Ernie Els (1994) and Trevor Immelman (2006).
“What Aldrich has achieved at such a young age is truly remarkable,” said Rolapp. “He has captivated fans across the globe, including his home country of South Africa, and the Tour is thrilled to see what his future holds.”
The PGA Tour's recognition of both Scheffler and Potgieter highlights the remarkable talent and rising stars shaping the future of professional golf. As the new season approaches, fans eagerly anticipate more groundbreaking moments and historic achievements. -Reporting by Frank Pingue in Toronto; Editing by Ken Ferris/Reuters
