Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo is the Chief Technology Officer of Paraluman News, where she brings together technology, public policy, law, and inclusive storytelling to help build a more accessible and future-ready digital newsroom. A lawyer, technologist, author, and public servant, she is also the founder of NightOwl AI, a mission-driven company using artificial intelligence to preserve endangered languages and fight digital exclusion, and the founding partner of Lamentillo Law, a Philippine law firm working at the intersection of law, governance, technology, digital rights, and livable cities.
A proud member of the Karay-a ethnolinguistic group, Lamentillo’s work is rooted in the belief that technology must reflect the full diversity of human culture. Through NightOwl AI, she has helped advance language preservation by digitizing underrepresented languages and developing inclusive tools for real-time translation and learning.
She graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines Los Baños with a degree in Development Communication and received the Faculty Medal for Academic Excellence. She completed her Juris Doctor at the University of the Philippines College of Law, executive education in Economic Development at Harvard Kennedy School, and a Master of Science in Cities from the London School of Economics. She also received the Programme Director’s Prize at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School for her work in the MSc in Major Programme Management programme.
